NDP GETS ALL-PARTY AGREEMENT ON NEED FOR CREDIT UNIONS

An NDP motion paving the way for the return of credit unions to the territory was unanimously supported in the legislature on Wednesday. A committee comprised of representatives of all three political parties, business, labour and Credit Union Yukon will be tasked with looking into bringing forward enabling legislation by next November. OTHER PARTIES REFUSE TO SIGN NDP LETTER ON CLIMATE CHANGE

The Yukon New Democratic Party is very disappointed with the Yukon and Liberal parties for refusing to sign a letter urging Prime Minister Stephen Harper to commit to bold actions to address global climate change before attending the international conference in Copenhagen. (December 3, 2009)
