MEMORIAL TO VICTIMS OF NORWAY ATTACKS MOVED TO YLA BUILDING
A temporary memorial for victims, relatives and friends of those killed or injured in Friday’s political violence in Norway has been moved to the foyer of the Yukon Legislative Assembly Building, says New Democratic Party Leader Liz Hanson.
Members of the public wishing to sign a book of condolences, leave a brief message or just reflect on the tragedy can do so at a desk flanked by the Canadian and Norwegian flags.
The memorial will be in place until August 5, when the book of condolences will be sent to Norway’s embassy in Ottawa.
“I encourage all Yukoners who wish to send their thoughts and prayers to the people of Norway in their time of shock and grief to do so,” Hanson adds.
“I also wish to thank the Yukon government for suggesting the memorial be moved from outside the Elijah Smith Federal Building to inside the legislative assembly building.”
The building is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
