We are all aware of the great suffering caused by alcohol and drugs in our community, and we see people with addictions bouncing back and forth from the emergency room, to shelter beds, to the riverbanks, to the drunk tank.
Dr. Beaton and Chief Allen were asked to study how we as a society treat and care for people with addictions. They found we have a long way to go.
Please join in on this conversation about their 12 recommendations to make our community safer and more compassionate. We have invited a cross-section of people who work with the acutely intoxicated on a daily basis.
